*Pay Rates: The base rates of $68 – $78 per hour are based on AM rates, with shift rates additional. Please note: The hourly rate is dependent on the nurse’s years of experience and the geographical location of the contract, with remote locations offering a higher rate compared to regional and rural contracts. A little about the role:
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Registered Nurses (Grade 5) for locum roles in a Regional Queensland (Mackay) Emergency Department.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and supportive environment, delivering high-quality emergency care.

The successful candidates will join an Emergency Department catering to both adult and paediatric patients. This dynamic ED handles over 150 patients daily, featuring 2 Resuscitation/Trauma bays, 3 High Dependency Unit (HDU) bays, 12 acute bed spaces, 5 Paediatric bays, 12 Fast Track spaces, 16 Short Stay beds, 2 Mental Health bays, and 1 Isolation HDU bay.

Multiple contracts available with a range of start dates Between June & August and an end of contract date of the end of September. The contract is located in Mackay, Queensland. 

Mandatory Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department experience.

Desirable Experience: 

• Knowledge and proficiency in using the integrated electronic Medical Record (ieMR) system.
• Previous experience working within Australia, particularly with Queensland Health

Mandatory Competencies: 

• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
• Resuscitation certification
• Triage certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) competency
• Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK)
• Manual and patient handling
• Infection control
• Aggressive behaviour management
• Mandatory reporting by Registered Nurses and/or Midwives for reasonable suspicions of child abuse and neglect
• Medications management including compliance with QPHS (Drugs and Poisons) Regulations November 2012

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must agree to undertake the following as required:

• Integrated electronic medical record (ieMR) training
• Online induction training
• Any other training as requested
