Maintenance Lead - Temp to Perm ($60-$65/hr)

Location: Campbellfield, VIC
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temporary Position with Strong Potential for Permanency

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Lead to join our operations team. Reporting to the Plant and Maintenance Superintendent, you will play a critical role in ensuring our plant, equipment, and facilities operate safely, reliably, and at optimum performance.

This is an initial temporary opportunity with a strong possibility of becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.

As the Maintenance Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating preventative and breakdown maintenance activities, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading a small maintenance team to deliver outstanding operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute preventative and breakdown maintenance activities

  • Lead and support maintenance shutdowns and equipment overhauls

  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, suppliers, and external service providers

  • Manage and continuously improve the preventative maintenance program

  • Monitor critical spare parts inventory and oversee engineering stores

  • Assist with maintenance budgeting, forecasting, and cost control

  • Work closely with production teams to maximise plant uptime and reliability

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance systems and processes

  • Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel to achieve business objectives

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies and statutory requirements

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical discipline

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a maintenance supervisory or leadership role within manufacturing

  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and plant reliability practices

  • Experience working with industrial plant equipment including pumps, gearboxes, compressors, motors, and heat exchangers

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience managing contractors and external service providers

  • Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities

  • Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS/MEX preferred)
