MANAGER – COMMUNITY AND CLIENT RELATIONS (Aboriginal Identified Position)

This is a new position and is subject to ongoing operational review.

The appointee will liaise and engage closely with the Coober Pedy and regional Aboriginal communities to develop and strengthen UTHSAC’s relationships and support the effective delivery of primary health services.

The role will involve communicating with and supporting UTHSAC clients and potential clients who may experience barriers to accessing services. The appointee will liaise with relevant service providers and advocate for appropriate health services for vulnerable members of the community, while also providing guidance, support and mentoring to Aboriginal Health Workers.

The appointee will contribute advice and assistance in the development and improvement of community programs, including providing information, facilitating networking, and supporting education and awareness initiatives. The role will also liaise with staff across other UTHSAC clinics to promote effective coordination and collaboration.

In addition, the appointee will support the Chief Executive Officer in community engagement and dealings, helping to strengthen relationships between UTHSAC, Aboriginal communities, health service providers and other relevant stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Adherence to UTHSAC's Code of Conduct, safety, trust, confidentiality and ethical behaviour in all professional activities
• Complete and record planned liaison and interactions with Coober Pedy and Regional Aboriginal Communities to assist in development and enhancement of UTHSAC relationships and delivery of Primary Health Services
• Plan and record contacts with UTHSAC Clients and/or potential Clients who may have difficulties in receiving UTHSAC Services
• Manage, lead and mentor Aboriginal Health Workers and seek and encourage candidates for Trainee Aboriginal Health Workers
• Ensure planned and ad hoc delivery of services by UTHSAC has a central focus on involvement and development of Aboriginal Health Workers
• Assist with and develop improved information about, networking, education and awareness of Programs for delivery to UTHSAC Clients or potential Clients
• Liaise and assist staff of other UTHSAC Clinics where appropriate
• Attend and support the Chief Executive Officer in community dealings

Educational / Vocational Qualifications

• Relevant appropriate qualification and/or experience;
• If an Aboriginal Health Worker or other Health Professional, Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority, or other relevant to professional field;
• National Police Clearance Certificate;
• Proficient in the use of Information Technology Software;
• Maintain currency of training and knowledge as required by relevant Regulatory Agency;
• Current Driver’s license – essential to position;
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain; and
• Child Safe Environment Certificate- essential to position

Experience

• Experience in working with people from Aboriginal communities and groups;
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a professional field relevant to this position; and demonstrated competence in counselling in accordance with the appropriate standard of practice.
