Mechanic (General)

Affordable Automotive is seeking a skilled and qualified Mechanic (General) to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing motor vehicles while ensuring high standards of workmanship, vehicle safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect motor vehicles to identify mechanical faults and determine the required repairs.
• Diagnose engine, transmission, steering, suspension and braking system problems.
• Service and repair petrol engines and other mechanical components.
• Dismantle, repair, replace and reassemble defective mechanical parts.
• Perform scheduled vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups.
• Use diagnostic scanners, testing equipment and technical service manuals to identify faults.
• Test and adjust repaired components to ensure proper operation and vehicle safety.
• Inspect vehicle electrical and electronic components relevant to general mechanical servicing.
• Maintain accurate service records and document repairs performed.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised workshop.
• Communicate repair findings, maintenance requirements and technical issues to the team and customers where required.

Skills and Qualifications

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR30620) or an equivalent relevant automotive trade qualification.
• Relevant experience in motor vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of automotive systems, tools and repair procedures.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
