Mechanical Designer / Design Draftsperson – SolidWorks
AustCorp Executive has been exclusively retained to recruit this position for an established engineering and manufacturing business based on the Gold Coast.
We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer / Design Draftsperson who enjoys practical design and wants to see their work go from concept through to finished product.
The Role
Working closely with engineering and fabrication, you’ll be involved in:
- 3D modelling and detailed drafting using SolidWorks
- Design of truck bodies, transport equipment, vehicle fit-outs and fabricated products
- New product development and prototype builds
- Producing fabrication, manufacturing and assembly drawings
- Improving and modifying existing designs
- Maintaining drawing revisions, part numbers and technical documentation
- Working directly with the workshop to resolve design and fabrication queries
- Supporting quality and continuous improvement
- Liaising with local and offshore manufacturing partners
About You
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong SolidWorks capability
- Mechanical design or drafting experience within manufacturing
- Good knowledge of fabrication, welding, sheet metal and/or structural steel
- Experience producing practical, buildable manufacturing drawings
- Strong attention to detail and document control
Experience with truck bodies, trailers, commercial vehicles, transport equipment, racking or fabricated products will be highly regarded.
