Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to design, organise and oversee the construction, operation and maintenance of mechanical and process plant and installations. The successful candidate will establish programs for the coordination of manufacturing activities and ensure that the usage of resources is cost-effective, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

•Study functional statements, organisational charts and project information to determine the functions and responsibilities of workers and work units, and identify areas of duplication.

•Establish work measurement programs and analyse work samples to develop standards for labour utilisation.

•Analyse workforce utilisation, facility layout, operational data, and production schedules and costs to determine optimum worker and equipment efficiencies.

•Design mechanical equipment, machines, components and products for manufacture, and plan systems for construction.

•Develop specifications for manufacture, and determine materials, equipment, piping, material flows, capacities and layout of plant and systems.

•Organise and manage project labour and the delivery of materials, plant and equipment.

•Establish standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance in accordance with engineering principles and safety regulations.

•Inspect plant regularly to ensure optimum performance is maintained.

•Direct the maintenance of plant buildings and equipment, and coordinate requirements for new designs, surveys and maintenance schedules.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

•Proven experience in mechanical design, plant operations, or process engineering.

•Strong knowledge of engineering principles, safety regulations, and quality control standards.

•Proficiency with relevant engineering and design software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).

•Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.

•Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise across technical and non-technical teams.

Relevant professional registration/licensing (e.g. Engineers Australia membership) preferred
