Metal Fabricator – Thermal Fabrication & Precision Welding
- Fabricate, assemble, modify and repair specialised metal components and thermal protection systems.
- Interpret engineering specifications and customer requirements for precision metal fabrication.
- Join metal sections using appropriate welding techniques and ensure quality control.
Overview:
At Real Thermo, we specialise in advanced heat-shielding and thermal insulation solutions for heat-intensive applications. Using high-quality stainless steel and heat-resistant fibre materials, our products are designed to effectively manage and contain radiant and expelled heat, reducing heat transfer by up to 70% while protecting surrounding components and improving overall thermal performance.
We are looking for a full-time Metal Fabricator – Thermal Fabrication & Precision Welding to join the team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the fabrication, assembly, modification and repair of specialised metal components and thermal protection systems used in high-performance automotive and motorsport applications. The role requires precision metal fabrication skills, including interpreting engineering specifications and customer requirements, templating, marking out, cutting, shaping, fitting, welding and finishing metal components to exact dimensional and performance requirements
This position is a full-time ongoing position, based in Brookvale NSW 2100.

·Study engineering specifications, customer requirements, measurements and component configurations to determine fabrication requirements, dimensions, materials and manufacturing methods.
·Select, measure, mark out and prepare stainless steel, aluminium and other metal stock according to customer requirements, shapes and fabrication specifications.
·Develop precise templates and prototypes for custom-fabricated metal components, including thermal shields and protective components designed for complex engine bay and exhaust system configurations.
·Cut, shape, form and bend metal stock and components using appropriate hand tools, bench tools and metal fabrication equipment.
·Fabricate custom metal components and structures to specified dimensions, profiles and tolerances, including components required to operate within restricted spaces and high-temperature environments.
·Position, align and fit fabricated metal sections and components using measuring instruments and fabrication tools to achieve accurate clearances, alignment and dimensional tolerances.
·Join metal sections and fabricated components using appropriate welding techniques, including specialised low-amperage pulse and spot welding for precision applications.
·Set and control welding parameters and heat input to achieve accurate welds while minimising distortion, burn-through and damage to thin or specialised metal components.
·Assemble fabricated metal components with thermal barrier and insulating materials to manufacture specialised multilayer thermal protection systems.
·Examine fabricated joints and welds for strength, penetration, precision, alignment and workmanship, and undertake repairs or rework where required.
·Grind, file, trim, smooth and finish fabricated components and welded areas to achieve the required dimensions, fit and surface finish etc.
