Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto Keswick is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our busy automotive service and repair workshop.
We provide a comprehensive range of automotive services, including logbook servicing, mechanical repairs, brake and suspension work, vehicle inspections, diagnostics, tyre services and wheel alignments.
This is a full-time, permanent position suitable for an experienced mechanic who can independently diagnose faults, carry out repairs and servicing, and consistently deliver work to a high professional and safety standard.
Key responsibilities
- Inspecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles
- Performing scheduled and logbook servicing in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications
- Repairing and replacing engines and engine components where required
- Repairing and maintaining braking, steering, suspension, transmission and cooling systems
- Testing vehicle systems and individual components using appropriate diagnostic equipment
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other vehicle components
- Repairing or replacing worn, damaged or defective parts
- Reassembling mechanical components and performing operational and road tests
- Carrying out safety inspections and identifying additional repair or maintenance requirements
- Using workshop tools, hoists and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly
- Maintaining accurate service and repair records
- Explaining identified faults and recommended repairs to the workshop manager and customers where required
- Ensuring all work complies with workplace health and safety requirements and workshop procedures
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop environment
Qualifications and experience
The successful applicant will have:
- An AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent relevant qualification or 3 years work experience
- Commercial experience as a Motor Mechanic
- Sound knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical and electronic systems
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose faults and complete mechanical repairs independently
- Experience in logbook servicing, brakes, steering, suspension and general mechanical repairs
- Ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment and interpret diagnostic results
- A current Australian driver’s licence or the ability to obtain one
- Good communication, organisational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship
