About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a growing technology team responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and optimising enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises, remote and cloud environments.

This is a hands-on engineering position where you'll play a key role in ensuring secure, reliable and high-performing connectivity across the organisation. You'll work across LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs and cloud networking while contributing to infrastructure improvements, cyber security initiatives and business-critical projects.

You'll collaborate closely with infrastructure, security and cloud teams, as well as external vendors and service providers, to maintain a resilient and scalable network environment.

Key Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure

  • Design, implement and support enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, wireless networks and WAN connectivity.
  • Monitor network availability, performance and capacity across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Perform firmware upgrades, patching and lifecycle management of network devices.

Routing, Switching & Cloud Connectivity

  • Configure and support:
    • Routing & Switching
    • VLANs & VRFs
    • VPNs
    • DNS & DHCP
    • Internet connectivity
    • Hybrid cloud networking
  • Troubleshoot complex network incidents and performance issues.
  • Support connectivity across corporate offices, remote users and operational sites.

Network Security

  • Administer firewalls and network security controls.
  • Manage secure traffic flows between external, internal and cloud environments.
  • Review firewall rules, segmentation and secure remote access.
  • Work alongside cyber security teams to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain monitoring, logging and alerting capabilities.

Monitoring & Documentation

  • Monitor network health using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Maintain network diagrams, standards, configurations and technical documentation.
  • Follow structured change management processes.
  • Participate in incident response and continual service improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with internal technology teams, vendors and managed service providers.
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects, cloud connectivity initiatives and network upgrades.
  • Provide technical input into future network architecture and operational planning.

Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceQualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Relevant industry certifications in networking, infrastructure, or security are desirable
  • ITIL Foundation certification desirable
  • Security-related certification is an advantage

Skills:
Strong organisational and multitasking abilitiesStrong understanding of network architecture, routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking, and hybrid connectivity principlesHands-on experience configuring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and related network servicesStrong understanding of cloud networking concepts including virtual networks, segmentation, routing, network security controls, and connectivity to cloud-hosted servicesExperience administering centralised firewall policies and managing secure traffic flows between external, internal, corporate, and backend servicesStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for complex network incidents and performance issues across on-premises and cloud environmentsUnderstanding of network security concepts including segmentation, secure remote access, firewall rule management, monitoring, and policy governanceExperience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and performance analysis toolsExcellent interpersonal, documentation, change management, and stakeholder communication skillsStrong change control process knowledgeOutstanding customer service skillsExcellent planning and organisational skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretionStrong documentation skills, including maintaining diagrams, standards, technical procedures, and firewall/network policy records
Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure support in medium to large organisations
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network environments across on-premises and cloud-connected platforms
  • Experience managing firewalls, routing, switching, wireless services, VPNs, and core network services
  • Experience supporting cloud network connectivity, hybrid network design, and secure access to cloud-hosted services
  • Experience administering centralised firewall environments and managing traffic flows between external, internal, corporate, and backend services
  • Experience with network monitoring, incident response, problem management, and performance optimisation
  • Familiarity with structured IT operations, change management, documentation, vendor collaboration, and security governance
