This is a permanent night shift position working Sunday to Thursday 22:00 – 06:00.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Track Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and safety of designated sections of track infrastructure. You will provide detailed condition assessments and reporting on track assets to ensure compliance with maintenance standards and identify any required corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct asset condition inspections, identifying and prioritising defects in accordance with MTM's Fault Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), Technical Maintenance Plan (TMP), Track Inspection Procedure (TIP), and Track Geometry Maintenance Tolerances Procedure.
  • Support the Production Manager in the development and delivery of the annual works program.
  • Lead the repair, maintenance, and renewal of infrastructure assets within the team's area of responsibility.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including inspection reports, material returns, timesheets, requisitions, and claim forms.
  • Investigate and prepare technical, administrative, and incident reports related to work activities and asset performance.
  • Respond to escalated incidents and faults, providing technical support and guidance to Skilled Operatives to ensure timely resolution.
  • Coordinate the supply and distribution of materials, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained to support reactive maintenance activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Train Track Safety Awareness Certificate.
  • Rail Infrastructure (Rail Maintenance) Certificate III, including the Track Inspection competency skill set.
  • Track Force Protection Coordinator Level 3.1 accreditation.
  • A current and valid driver's licence.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in track maintenance and/or inspection.
  • Availability to work reasonable overtime, including emergency call-outs when required.
