SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Painter on behalf of our client, an established painting services business operating across the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. Providing professional painting solutions across residential, commercial, construction and property maintenance projects, the business has built a strong reputation for quality workmanship, attention to detail and reliable project delivery. Services include interior and exterior painting, surface preparation and restoration, roof repainting and a range of specialist painting and maintenance services.

Position - Painter

Location – Head Office:Wyndham Vale, VIC 3024. This role requires travel across the western suburbs of Melbourne.

Salary - $79,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation per annum

Employment type - Full-time, permanent

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Painter to undertake a variety of residential, commercial and construction painting projects across Melbourne.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paints, stains, varnishes and other finishes using a range of techniques and equipment. You will work independently and as part of a team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to consistently high standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

· Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting by removing old paint, filling holes and cracks, sanding, smoothing, sealing and cleaning surfaces.

· Protect surrounding areas by positioning drop sheets, masking materials and other protective coverings before commencing work.

· Select, prepare and mix paints, stains and other coatings to achieve required colours, finishes and specifications.

· Apply paints, varnishes, stains and other finishes using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.

· Apply appropriate primers, sealers and undercoats to prepared surfaces prior to finishing.

· Undertake painting and finishing work across a variety of residential, commercial and construction environments.

· Safely erect and use ladders, scaffolding and other access equipment where required.

· Inspect completed work and undertake touch-ups or corrective work to ensure a consistent, high-quality finish.

· Maintain painting tools, spray equipment and other work equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.

· Maintain clean and organised work areas and safely dispose of painting materials and waste.

· Work effectively with supervisors, tradespeople, clients and other team members to meet project requirements and completion schedules.

· Follow relevant workplace health and safety procedures, site requirements and safe work practices at all times.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

· A relevant trade qualification, such as a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, or the agreed equivalent.

· A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience as a professional Painter in a residential, commercial or construction environment.

· Demonstrated experience in surface preparation, including filling, sanding, smoothing, sealing and preparing surfaces for painting.

· Experience applying paints and other finishes using brushes, rollers and spray-painting equipment.

· Sound knowledge of paints, coatings, primers, sealers and appropriate application techniques.

· Ability to mix and match paints and select appropriate products and finishes for different surfaces.

· Experience safely working with ladders, scaffolding and access equipment

· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to achieving consistently high-quality finishes.

· Good communication, organisational and time-management skills.

· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

· A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and safe work practices.

· A current Australian driver's licence would be highly regarded.

· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
