Parking Officer opportunity within local government

Your new companyA local government organisation is seeking a customer-focused Parking Officer to join its compliance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a hospitality, retail or customer service background who enjoys working with people, being outdoors and making a positive contribution to the community.

Your new roleAs a Parking Officer, you will play an important role in supporting safe and accessible parking throughout the local area. This is a field-based position that involves regular interaction with residents, visitors and local businesses.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting parking patrols across public streets and parking areas
  • Monitoring compliance with parking restrictions and regulations
  • Providing information and assistance to members of the public
  • Responding to enquiries and complaints in a professional manner
  • Issuing infringements where required and maintaining accurate records
  • Using strong communication skills to de-escalate challenging situations
  • Representing the organisation professionally within the community

This role involves working outdoors and spending extended periods walking and patrolling throughout the day.

What you'll need to succeedWe are particularly interested in candidates with strong customer service experience who can remain calm and professional in difficult situations.

You will bring:

  • Experience in hospitality, retail, customer service or another public-facing role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities
  • Confidence engaging with a diverse range of people
  • A professional, respectful and community-focused approach
  • The ability to work independently and follow procedures
  • Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills
  • A current Class C Driver Licence

Previous Parking Officer or compliance experience is highly regarded but not essential.
