An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Project Team Lead to join this organisation and take ownership of its payroll compliance and remediation projects. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will guide a capable team and your responsibilities will include :
- Plan and steer payroll projects from start to finish, keeping them on track against legislation, internal policy and wider business goals
- Manage the calculation and payment of back-pay and remediation claims, including intricate adjustments and interest components
- Keep payroll running to standard through regular auditing and review of pay outcomes before and after each cycle
- Spot potential risks early, shape practical solutions and support the team to put them in place, referring the trickier matters upward
- Partner closely with HR, systems and business teams to keep everyone aligned and informed
- Champion smarter ways of working across processes, controls and payroll technology
- Set the standards for governance, quality and team performance and make sure they stick
- Build the team's know-how through hands-on coaching and well-designed training
To be considered for this role, you will be an experienced payroll professional with 8–9 years' experience, including time in a leadership capacity within a complex payroll environment. You bring in-depth knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and a proven track record in compliance, remediation and process improvement. Detail-focused and discreet, you combine strong technical skills with the ability to lead a team, explain payroll clearly and build trust at every level.
