Your new role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced environmental professional to join a government regulatory organisation on a short-term contract until 27 November 2026.Reporting to the Team Leader within the Permissioning and Licensing area, this VPS4 role focuses on assessing environmental permission applications and supporting the administration of a contemporary environmental regulatory framework. The successful candidate will contribute to protecting human health and the environment by ensuring applications are rigorously assessed against relevant legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess environmental permission and licence applications for scheduled activities.
- Undertake administrative processes associated with permission assessments.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and evidence-based assessment reports.
- Engage and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Support decision-making processes that contribute to effective environmental regulation.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Sound knowledge of environmental management and environmental protection principles.
- Strong judgement and decision-making skills in relation to environmental matters.
- Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A relevant qualification in environmental science, engineering, natural resources, or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
