About Colterlec

Proudly Australian owned and operated for more than 30 years, Colterlec delivers high-quality engineered electrical product solutions across Australia and New Zealand. Representing leading global brands, the business combines technical expertise with capabilities spanning product supply, custom design and build, service and maintenance.

Colterlec is entering an exciting phase of transformation, introducing a new portfolio structure that will shift the business beyond individual product sales towards integrated solutions aligned to customer applications and market opportunities.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager – Product, the newly created Portfolio Manager – Automation will take ownership of Automation as a national business, with accountability for its strategy, financial performance and market development.

This hands-on commercial leadership role will see you translate customer challenges into broader automation solutions. Working across product, sales, business development and suppliers, you will identify opportunities, develop go-to-market strategies and enable integrated solutions nationally.
You will initially lead three experienced Product Managers, leveraging their technical expertise while setting the commercial direction and priorities for the portfolio.

Key areas of focus will include:

  • Owning portfolio revenue, gross profit and overall commercial performance.

  • Developing go-to-market plans across priority industries and target accounts.

  • Creating integrated solutions aligned to customer applications and challenges.

  • Leading and developing the portfolio’s experienced Product Managers.

  • Building strategic supplier partnerships and joint market initiatives.

  • Identifying product, solution and supplier gaps across the portfolio.

  • Partnering with sales teams to strengthen cross-sell and customer penetration.

  • Using CRM, pipeline and commercial data to inform decisions and opportunities.

The portfolio spans Australia and New Zealand, with key markets including data centres, water and wastewater, food and beverage, mining and broader industrial environments.

About You

You are commercially driven, technically credible and able to look beyond individual products to understand the broader problem a customer is trying to solve. You combine industrial automation knowledge with the business acumen to turn market opportunities into practical commercial outcomes.

Comfortable operating autonomously and leading through influence, you can build trusted relationships at senior levels while remaining hands-on in a business that is continuing to evolve.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong experience within industrial automation, electrical and/or technical B2B markets.

  • Commercial experience across sales, business development or product leadership.

  • A track record of growing a territory, portfolio, category or market segment.

  • Strong understanding of solutions-led selling in technically complex environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute go-to-market strategies.

  • Strong customer, supplier and senior stakeholder relationship capability.

  • Experience leading or influencing technical and commercial professionals.

  • Commercial acumen across revenue, margin, budgets and pipeline management.

A systems integration background will be highly regarded, along with exposure to data centres, water and utilities, food and beverage, mining, manufacturing or related industrial markets.

Why Join Colterlec?

This is an opportunity to join Colterlec at an important stage of its transformation and influence a newly established portfolio model from the outset.

You will have the scope to bring forward new ideas, build business cases and shape how Colterlec takes automation solutions to market. With significant ambitions for the business, this is an opportunity to make a tangible impact while building your career as the organisation grows.
