KEY POINTS WE FOUND
  • Lead the development of a strategic pricing function from the ground up.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and executive leadership team.
  • Manage and develop a team of five pricing professionals.

Head of Pricing Strategy | Newly Created Leadership Role

A well-established Australian business is creating a new, senior pricing leadership role reporting directly to the CFO and sitting at the leadership table. This isn't a pricing analyst role dressed up in a bigger title. It's a mandate to build a strategic pricing function from the ground up, and to lead a team of five in doing it.

Why this role is different:

Most pricing hires inherit a function. You'll build one. You'll design the operating model, set the governance, and define what "good" looks like, then bring your team and the rest of the business along with you. We're looking for someone who has done this before: stood up a new capability, function, or operating model inside a business and made it stick.

What we need from you:

  • Gravitas at the top table. You've operated comfortably with CFOs, CSOs, and executive leadership teams, not just presented to them, but shaped their thinking and held your ground on commercial calls.
  • A strategy builder, not a strategy executor. You've defined pricing or commercial strategy from a blank page, not just optimised an existing playbook.
  • Real people leadership. You've led teams of meaningful size (5+), built their capability, and know how to grow a function's credibility alongside its headcount.
  • Commercial and product fluency. Deep experience working across sales, product, and commercial teams. You understand value propositions and channel economics as well as you understand a P&L.
  • Change leadership. You've driven adoption of new ways of working across a business and won people over.

The scope:

  • Own pricing strategy end-to-end: governance, analytics, performance reporting, and commercial outcomes
  • Lead and develop a team of five
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO, CSO, and executive leadership team
  • Build the pricing capability roadmap and future-state operating model
  • Champion value-based, customer-centric pricing across the organisation

What you'll bring:

  • 10-15+ years' experience spanning sales, product, and commercial roles, with a proven history of building capability or leading transformation (pricing, RGM, or sales effectiveness).
  • Strong team leadership - leading 5+ people within a pricing function.
  • Strong analytical skills, but a strategist and commercial leader first, not a pure analyst.
  • Degree qualified; MBA a plus.
