You will be joining a highly regarded team that provides independent technical advice across HVDC system design, system studies, electrical engineering and major infrastructure delivery.

The Appointment
You will provide specialist technical guidance across the design, development and implementation of HVDC systems for major energy and transmission projects.

This role will see you working closely with colleagues across multiple technical disciplines and international office locations. Regular business travel to customer sites and other offices may form part of the role.

You will play a key role in advising customers, delivering technical studies, supporting tender processes and contributing to the development of best-practice HVDC solutions that meet evolving industry, regulatory and grid requirements.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing conceptual designs for HVDC and AC transmission systems
  • Conducting feasibility studies and assessing CAPEX, OPEX, system losses, availability and constructability
  • Performing, developing and reviewing electrical system studies for HVDC systems and substations
  • Preparing and reviewing equipment design specifications, technical documentation and general arrangements
  • Leading or reviewing system simulations, dynamic modelling and stability analysis
  • Developing and reviewing control and protection strategies for HVDC and multi-terminal projects
  • Supporting converter control, fault management and grid code compliance requirements
  • Preparing technical specifications and supporting tender and procurement processes
  • Witnessing commissioning activities, including FAT and SAT testing
  • Preparing high-quality technical reports, commercial proposals and customer-facing documentation
  • Providing expert advice to customers and internal project teams
  • Contributing to industry training courses, lunch and learn sessions, conferences and standards development forums

The Appointee
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical capability in HVDC system design, power systems engineering and electrical transmission projects. You will be comfortable working across complex technical environments and engaging with customers, project teams and industry stakeholders.

You will ideally have experience in:

  • HVDC system design, studies or project delivery
  • AC and DC transmission systems
  • Electrical system studies, modelling and simulation
  • Converter control, protection strategies and grid code compliance
  • Substations, equipment specifications and general arrangement design
  • Feasibility studies, technical due diligence and cost assessment
  • Tender support, technical negotiations and commissioning/testing processes
  • Preparing clear technical reports and commercial offers for customers

You will also be a confident communicator who enjoys sharing knowledge, collaborating across disciplines and contributing to broader industry development.
