Our client is a well-established, member-owned Australian financial services provider specialising in investment and insurance products. As trustee for a range of investment and savings vehicles, it prioritises socially responsible investing and long-term member outcomes. With growth ahead and a broader governance uplift under way, this is a genuine opportunity for a senior financial services lawyer to establish and maintain the function and make a real impact in this newly created part-time role.
Reporting to the CEO, you will provide practical legal advice on products, regulatory requirements, disclosure, complaints, contracts and governance. You will also maintain a clear and reliable record of key product requirements, legal interpretations and decisions. Working closely with stakeholders, you will advise on new product development, material product features, compliance, communication initiatives and broader commercial contracts.
You are a financial services lawyer with substantial post-admission experience, including significant time in an APRA-regulated business. You bring demonstrated expertise in Australian financial services regulation, the Corporations Act, and ASIC and APRA prudential standards, backed by sound knowledge of risk, compliance and governance. With sound judgement and strong drafting skills, you communicate persuasively, build strong relationships across the business and escalate material matters early. Pragmatic, commercially astute and risk-aware, you remain resilient as priorities change. This is a rare opportunity to shape the legal function of a purpose-led organisation, with the flexibility to work over three days or four shorter days.
