Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety – in the air, on the ground and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.

What you’ll be doing:

The Program Manager will be responsible for leading the delivery of complex IT Operations programs within the IT Project Delivery Framework, ensuring successful outcomes across multiple project teams, vendors and delivery partners. Working closely with and supporting the Program Director, this role will oversee program scope, budget, schedule and RAIDD, while ensuring the right resources are in place and governance frameworks are effectively established and maintained. Partnering with project sponsors and cross functional stakeholders, the Program Manager will drive alignment across the organisation and support the delivery of effective organisational change management to ensure the successful adoption of program outcomes.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Hold tertiary qualifications in Project, IT or Business Management
  • Have a proven track record delivering large-scale programs (e.g. $10M+ or multiple project streams)
  • Bring strong financial capability, including budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling to support decision making
  • Build trusted relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including executive leadership
  • Confidently influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Effectively manage expectations and communicate risks, issues and resolutions using data and reporting insights
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership, organisational and time management skills
  • Apply a flexible and collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement
  • Operate with integrity, discretion and high ethical standards when handling confidential information
  • Use critical thinking and analytical skills to interpret data, forecast outcomes and support decision making
  • Solve complex problems collaboratively, proactively identifying risks and driving solutions
  • Leverage data and insights to enable fact based decisions and continuous improvement
  • Have a strong understanding of financial governance, controls and performance management processes
  • Bring solid experience in project and change management methodologies, including Agile and waterfall delivery
  • Are comfortable working across technology environments, including SDLC and implementation programs
  • Have experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, DevSecOps, MS Project, and Power BI

Bonus points if you also bring:

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in program/project management and leading teams
  • Experience within the airline industry or similarly complex operational environments
