Hello – Kia Ora – 你好 – Wominjeka – Yaama.

No matter how you say it, we’re glad you’re here!

Build your civil career in Warrnambool

With a growing pipeline of local projects, we’re looking for an Engineering Officer or Civil Engineer to help deliver civil infrastructure and land development work in Warrnambool.

You might come from civil design and drafting, construction supervision or an engineering role with a consultancy, contractor, council or servicing authority. Whatever your pathway, you’ll bring practical civil infrastructure experience and an interest in working across both design and construction.

Working closely with our Warrnambool lead and supported by our Geelong team, you’ll contribute to projects as they move from drawings to delivery on site. The mix of responsibilities will reflect your experience and strengths, with opportunities to broaden your skills over time.

This role will see you:

  • Contribute to civil infrastructure design, drafting and documentation.
  • Support construction supervision and site inspections as projects move into delivery.
  • Assist with contract administration and maintain clear project and site records.
  • Work with contractors, consultants and authorities to coordinate inputs and help resolve practical issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, surveyors and construction consultants across Spiire.
  • Take responsibility for agreed tasks, manage competing priorities and seek technical advice when needed.
  • Build strong working relationships and contribute to Spiire’s growing presence in Warrnambool.

You’ll be based in Warrnambool, with travel to our Geelong office, to connect and collaborate with the broader team as required.

About you

You bring a solid foundation in civil infrastructure design or construction, ideally with at least two years of relevant experience. We’re open to people at different stages of their careers, including experienced practitioners looking for variety and the opportunity to contribute locally.

You don’t need to have worked across every aspect of the role. Your practical experience, willingness to learn and ability to work collaboratively are what matter.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in civil design, drafting, construction supervision or contract administration.
  • AutoCAD skills and the ability to read and interpret civil drawings and documentation.
  • An understanding of how civil infrastructure is designed and constructed.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and clients.
  • A practical approach to problem-solving, with the judgement to recognise when specialist input is needed.
  • The ability to organise your work, follow through on commitments and work with a degree of independence.

Survey experience would be valued, but isn’t essential. Experience with 12d would also be welcome.

A qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial, but we also welcome applications from people who have developed their skills through hands-on industry experience. An engineering degree is not essential for the Engineering Officer pathway.

Make a local impact, backed by a broader team

This is an opportunity to help shape Spiire’s growing presence in Warrnambool and see the impact of your work in the local community.

You’ll work closely with an experienced local colleague while drawing on the technical expertise and support of our Geelong team and broader network. As projects progress, you’ll have opportunities to build your experience across design and construction and develop your career in a direction that suits your strengths.

Whether you’re already based in the region or looking to make Warrnambool your home, we’d love to hear from you.
