Join a small, dedicated team supporting Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples and Traditional Owner aspirations across the Wet Tropics.
Join the Wet Tropics Management Authority and play an important role in supporting Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples to shape the future management of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Working within the World Heritage Connections team, you will support the implementation of a rights-based approach to management by building strong relationships with Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples, supporting Traditional Owner-led initiatives, and contributing to projects that strengthen connections between culture, Country and World Heritage values.
This diverse role involves supporting engagement activities, coordinating meetings and events, assisting with project planning and reporting, preparing communication materials and publications, and helping deliver programs that support the aspirations and interests of Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples. You will also assist staff to undertake culturally appropriate engagement using free, prior and informed consent principles.
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual with experience working collaboratively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and communities in a culturally respectful way. You will have strong communication and relationship building skills, experience supporting projects or community engagement activities, and the ability to prepare reports, presentations, newsletters and other written materials.
Experience in natural and cultural resource management, community engagement, Traditional Owner-led initiatives, environmental management or related fields will be highly regarded. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes for Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples and the long-term management of one of Australia's most significant World Heritage areas.
