About the Position:
The Retail Manager (General) plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day running of the shop, ensuring smooth operations, high standards of customer service and effective team coordination so that North Carlton Quality Meats continues to deliver quality products and a positive experience for both walk-in and wholesale clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily retail operations including opening and closing procedures, sales floor presentation and service standards.
- Lead, roster and support shop staff to maintain efficient workflow and consistent customer service.
- Manage inventory levels, stock rotation, ordering and supplier coordination to minimise waste and ensure product availability.
- Handle customer enquiries, resolve issues and promote product knowledge to support sales.
- Monitor sales performance, implement basic merchandising and contribute to achieving revenue targets.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and hygiene standards.
- Assist with cash handling, end-of-day reconciliation and basic reporting.
- Support wholesale and special-order processes as required.
Requirements:
- Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
- Diploma of Leadership and Management (or equivalent).
- Minimum 1 year relevant experience.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a small team.
- Sound organisational, problem-solving and time-management abilities.
- Knowledge of retail operations, inventory control and food safety practices.
- Ability to work flexibly within retail trading hours and maintain high standards of presentation and professionalism.
