Retail Security Officer / Control Room

About the Role

Securecorp is currently seeking motivated and professional Security Officers to join our team at the iconic Southgate Retail Precinct in Melbourne's CBD.

We have two exciting opportunities available:

• Full-Time Security Officer (Level 2) – Permanent position on a rotating roster.
• Casual Security Officer / Control Room Operator – Flexible shifts available across days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

These roles are ideal for experienced security professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining a safe and secure environment. Working within a busy retail precinct, you'll play a key role in protecting people and property, responding to incidents, and providing a visible security presence. The casual role will also support the site's Control Room operations, making previous Control Room experience highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the Southgate security team, your responsibilities may include:

• Providing a professional and highly visible security presence throughout the site.
• Delivering exceptional customer service to tenants, retailers, contractors, and members of the public.
• Conducting routine patrols of the precinct and surrounding areas.
• Monitoring CCTV, alarms, access control systems, and other security technology.
• Responding promptly to incidents, emergencies, alarms, and customer enquiries.
• Managing access control and enforcing site procedures.
• Completing accurate incident reports and maintaining detailed records.
• Identifying potential risks and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment.
• For the Casual Security Officer / Control Room role, monitoring and coordinating Control Room operations in accordance with site procedures.

Skills & Experience

To be successful, you will have:

• A current Victorian Security Licence.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Previous experience in the security industry, preferably within a retail or commercial environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• A professional approach to conflict resolution and incident management.
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Control Room endorsement and experience will be highly regarded for the Casual Security Officer / Control Room position.
