Senior Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Officer 
6 month contract | NSW Government | Hybrid Working

Are you an experienced communications and stakeholder engagement professional looking for your next opportunity within the NSW Government?

We are currently seeking a Senior Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Officer to join a busy team supporting a range of customer, community and infrastructure initiatives across NSW.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across both strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, and who can build strong relationships while delivering clear, accessible communications to diverse audiences.

About the role
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering communications and engagement activities that keep communities, customers and stakeholders informed and involved.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing communication and stakeholder engagement plans.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting community consultation, workshops, forums, events and engagement activities.
• Developing clear and engaging content across digital, written and presentation formats.
• Providing communications and stakeholder advice to project teams and senior stakeholders.
• Supporting issues management and responding to emerging stakeholder and community concerns.
• Using data, insights and feedback to inform engagement strategies and improve outcomes.
• Developing strategic narratives and storytelling that connect projects with local community outcomes.
• Coordinating communications and engagement activities across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Working with external suppliers, consultants and delivery partners to ensure engagement activities are delivered effectively.
• Occasionally attending community or project-based activities outside of the office.

About you
We are looking for a communications and stakeholder engagement generalist who can confidently work across a variety of projects and audiences.

You will ideally have:

• Demonstrated experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, community engagement or public relations.
• Experience working within government, infrastructure, transport or another complex service delivery environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience developing communications and engagement plans and delivering engagement activities.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Experience developing content across multiple channels.
• The ability to interpret information, identify emerging issues and provide practical advice.
• Strong judgement, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive matters.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Media, Public Relations, Marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• A current Australian driver's licence is preferred, with some travel and occasional out-of-hours work required.
