We’re looking for an AI Engineer to design, build, deploy and support AI-enabled software applications that solve real client problems and deliver measurable business value at scale. 

In this role, you’ll work across the full AI software development lifecycle — from requirements analysis and solution design through to production deployment, optimisation and ongoing support. You’ll apply strong software engineering fundamentals to develop reliable, secure, performant and maintainable systems, with a particular focus on Python-based applications, AI agents, automation and cloud deployment. 

You’ll partner closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions, while ensuring governance, safety and quality are embedded throughout delivery. 

What will your typical day look like? 

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications and AI-enabled software systems for clients, working to an agreed solution architecture and taking solutions from proof-of-concept through to production.   
• Write robust, production-quality Python code, including supporting tooling, integrations, and interfaces that extend application functionality against client systems.   
• Analyse and evaluate client and business requirements, translating them into technical designs and implementation plans for medium-to-high complexity tasks.   
• Develop and implement guardrail, safety, and governance components to ensure applications behave reliably, securely, and in line with compliance requirements.   
• Build and maintain automated testing, evaluation, and quality-assurance frameworks to measure and continuously improve system quality against defined metrics.   
• Manage the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) lifecycle using Azure DevOps and Databricks Asset Bundles, ensuring deployments are repeatable, auditable, and stable.   
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise application performance, latency, and operating cost to meet defined service-level and user-experience targets.   
• Maintain and support deployed systems in production, diagnosing issues and implementing fixes and enhancements across the application lifecycle.   
• Liaise directly with internal teams and client stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and communicate solution designs and progress.   
• Proactively identify technical improvements and lead their implementation, documenting designs, code, and processes to support maintainability.

You may be a strong fit for this role if you have experience in: 

• Designing and building production AI agents on Databricks using LangGraph (intent routing, multi-turn state management, tool orchestration)  
• Production-grade Agentic Software engineering - tested, maintainable code across agents, tooling, and integrations  
• Developing MCP servers and tool-calling interfaces for secure data retrieval against client systems  
• Implementing guardrail, safety, and content-moderation middleware for customer-facing AI  
• CI/CD and deployment automation with Azure DevOps and Databricks Asset Bundles, with MLflow versioning and monitoring  
• Building LLM evaluation and QA frameworks (hallucination detection, response accuracy, trustworthiness)  
• Performance and latency optimisation of production systems to meet SLAs (~17s → 2–3s)  
• Client-facing technical communication - architecture walkthroughs, blocker reports, and stakeholder alignment.

The minimum salary requirement for this role is between $70,000 - $97,000.
