This is a great opportunity for a CA/CPA-qualified accountant looking for a hands-on role within a complex and highly regulated environment. The position sits within the Finance Operations team and will work closely with the Finance Manager and broader finance function to ensure the day-to-day accounting operations, reporting and compliance requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
About the role
This is a broad Senior Financial Accountant position covering BAU accounting, month-end, reconciliations, taxation, statutory reporting, financial systems and team support.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing the day-to-day financial accounting function, ensuring monthly reconciliations, month-end processes and reporting are completed accurately and on time.
- Preparing and supporting annual financial accounts, statutory reporting and year-end processes
- Coordinating key taxation obligations including GST, BAS, FBT and Payroll Tax
- Contributing to the management of the Fixed Asset Register, depreciation, reconciliations and associated reporting requirements.
- Providing guidance, support and coaching to two Financial Accountants, helping maintain high standards and ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
- Playing a hands-on role in supporting financial operations associated with upcoming organisational activity, including accounts payable, venue payments, reimbursements and other high-volume transactions.
- Working collaboratively across the Finance team and demonstrating the flexibility to step into new areas, pick things up quickly and take ownership when required.
About You
You will ideally have:
- CA/CPA qualification with relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in financial accounting, month-end, reconciliations and year-end reporting.
- Demonstrated experience preparing or contributing to statutory financial statements and financial audits.
- Ideally, experience working within NSW Government or another public sector environment
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across different levels of an organisation.
