The Appointment
An opportunity now exists for an experienced Senior Health & Hygiene Coordinator to join the Health and Safety team.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, this role will play a key part in supporting workforce health, injury management, occupational hygiene and health risk management across the operation.
This is a hands-on and influential role suited to someone who enjoys combining technical health and hygiene expertise with genuine care for people, proactive problem solving and strong stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the health, wellbeing and safety of employees through proactive engagement and practical health initiatives
- Leading injury management, return-to-work programs and workers compensation processes
- Developing and implementing strategies focused on injury prevention, fitness for work and overall workforce wellbeing
- Conducting occupational hygiene monitoring, sampling and exposure assessments
- Reviewing and analysing health and hygiene data to support risk-based decision making
- Developing and maintaining Health and Hygiene Management Plans and Health Risk Assessments
- Identifying occupational health risks and supporting the implementation of effective controls
- Managing compliance requirements relating to worker health monitoring and medical assessment processes
- Acting as a key liaison between site, medical advisors, external health professionals and internal stakeholders
- Supporting continuous improvement across health, hygiene and wellbeing systems
The Appointee
To be successful in this role, you will be a motivated and experienced health and hygiene professional with a strong understanding of mining environments and a genuine commitment to improving workplace health outcomes.
You will bring a balance of technical capability, strong coordination skills and the ability to build trust across all levels of the business.
You will also bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health, Safety, Hygiene or a related discipline
- Return-to-Work Coordinator certification
- Demonstrated experience in a similar health, hygiene or injury management role within an underground mining environment
- Strong knowledge of injury management, occupational rehabilitation and workers compensation processes
- Experience with occupational hygiene monitoring, health risk assessments and exposure management
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- High attention to detail, particularly across compliance, reporting and documentation
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A proactive, practical and people-focused approach to health and safety
