This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Financial Lines Underwriter to step into a genuinely influential role with the autonomy to build a portfolio, develop broker relationships and shape the future of a growing Brisbane operation.

Who will you be working with?
You’ll be joining a globally established specialty insurance business with operations across Australia, the UK, Europe, Bermuda and the Lloyd’s market. While the organisation has significant international scale, the Australian operation retains a high degree of autonomy, with underwriting authority and decision-making kept close to the local market.

The Northern Region is entering an exciting period of growth, with plans to further establish a Brisbane presence. You’ll work closely with an experienced regional leader who values autonomy, trusts people to deliver and has a strong focus on building a supportive, collaborative team culture.

This is not an environment where you’ll simply become another number in a large corporate structure. You’ll have the opportunity to influence the day-to-day direction of the business, establish the Financial Lines proposition in Brisbane and potentially grow into a broader Northern Region leadership position as the operation develops.

What will you be doing?

• Build and manage a profitable Financial Lines portfolio across Brisbane and the Northern Region
• Underwrite new business and renewals across ML, D&O and PI
• Develop and leverage strong relationships with Brisbane and national brokers
• Proactively identify opportunities and generate new business
• Work closely with Sydney and international underwriting teams and support functions
• Help establish the Brisbane operation, with scope to build a local team over time

What do you need?

• Strong experience underwriting Financial Lines, ideally across ML, D&O and PI
• An established network of Brisbane insurance brokers and industry relationships
• A proven ability to generate, negotiate and win new business
• Strong technical underwriting skills and commercial judgement
• A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and enjoys building something new
• Leadership ambition and the ability to influence and grow a developing operation
