SkillQuest Solutions is seeking an experienced Solicitor on behalf of our client, a well-established legal practice servicing individuals, families and businesses throughout regional Victoria.
With a strong reputation for providing practical, professional and client-focused legal services, the practice advises across a broad range of areas including property and conveyancing, wills and estates, family law, commercial matters, civil disputes, criminal law and employment matters.

THE ROLE:
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor to manage a varied caseload and provide practical legal advice and representation to clients across a range of matters.
Working as part of an experienced legal team, you will meet with clients, assess their legal needs, undertake legal research, prepare and review legal documentation, negotiate on behalf of clients and assist with the preparation and conduct of legal proceedings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Interview and consult with clients to understand their circumstances, identify legal issues and recommend appropriate legal action.
· Provide clear and practical legal advice regarding clients' rights, obligations and available options.
· Undertake legal research and interpret relevant legislation, regulations, case law and legal precedents.
· Prepare, draft and critically review contracts, agreements, correspondence and other legal documents.
· Manage a varied caseload across relevant areas of legal practice.
· Prepare matters for court and tribunal proceedings, including undertaking investigations, preparing documentation and coordinating evidence and witnesses.
· Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, court and tribunal proceedings where appropriate.
· Assist with property and conveyancing matters, including the preparation and review of contracts and other property-related documentation relating to the transfer, leasing, and management of land and buildings.
· Prepare and advise on family law, wills, estate planning and deceased estate matters.
· Provide advice in relation to company law, partnerships, commercial law, and trusts by conducting legal research and preparing written summaries of relevant legislation, case law, and legal principles.
· Maintain accurate and confidential client files, correspondence, records and legal documentation.
· Liaise professionally with clients, other legal practitioners, courts, government agencies and relevant third parties.
· Ensure compliance with professional obligations, confidentiality requirements, ethical standards and firm policies relating to client duties, privacy, file management and legal practice procedures.
· Perform legal work under appropriate supervision and guidance, consistent with the Solicitor’s level of experience, competency and any conditions applying to their practising certificate.
· Undertake legal practice management and administrative responsibilities, including accurately recording billable time, assisting with invoices and cost disclosures, maintaining client and matter records, and participating in continuing professional development activities.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
· Relevant qualification, such as a recognized Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent Australian-recognised legal qualification.
· Admission to the legal profession in Australia.
· A current practicing certificate permitting legal practice in Victoria.
· At least one year of relevant professional experience working as a Solicitor or in a comparable legal practice role.
· Demonstrated experience providing legal advice, undertaking legal research and preparing legal documents.
· Experience managing client matters and maintaining accurate legal files and documentation.
· Sound knowledge of relevant Australian and Victorian legislation, legal procedures and professional obligations.
· Strong legal research, analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly to clients.
· Strong organisation, time management and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing matters and deadlines.
· A professional, ethical and client-focused approach to legal practice.
· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
