Lead a Skilled Rural Operations Team on Queensland's Capricorn Coast

Hays has partnered with a Regional Shire Council and is seeking an experienced Supervisor Rural Operations for a temporary opportunity based at The Caves, supporting the delivery of essential construction and maintenance works across the region. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a leadership role where you can make an immediate impact while working in one of Queensland's most desirable coastal regions.The Regional Shire Council is a values-driven local government organisation servicing nearly 43,000 residents across the Capricorn Coast region. Known for its stunning beaches, natural beauty and strong community focus, Council employs approximately 400 staff dedicated to delivering quality services and infrastructure to the local community.
Your new role
Reporting to the Coordinator Rural Operations, you will lead and coordinate multidisciplinary crews responsible for construction and maintenance activities across Council infrastructure assets and Transport and Main Roads (TMR) assets maintained under the RMPC program.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and coordinating multiple work crews across construction and maintenance projects
  • Managing labour, plant and material resources to ensure efficient project delivery
  • Establishing work priorities and monitoring workflow to meet budgets and deadlines
  • Providing technical guidance to field teams and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications and standards
  • Monitoring project progress and reporting on outcomes
  • Coordinating the repair and maintenance of roads and road-related infrastructure
  • Managing stakeholder and community enquiries relating to works programs
  • Supporting budget preparation and cost estimates
  • Promoting a strong safety culture across all operational activities

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in civil construction and maintenance
  • Proven leadership experience supervising operational work crews
  • Experience managing works programs across multiple sites
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and technical documentation
  • Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Traffic Management Implementation qualification
  • Current C Class Driver Licence
