System Engineer

Your new company
This opportunity sits within a specialist Defence environment focused on systems integration, network interoperability, architecture, and capability assurance across complex land-domain technologies. Working alongside senior engineering, technical and Defence stakeholders, you will contribute to strategic initiatives that support the integration of emerging technologies into operational environments. The organisation is leading critical work in systems engineering, integration governance, test and evaluation, and capability development, providing exposure to nationally significant Defence programs.

Your new role
As a Systems Engineer, you will support the establishment and delivery of a national capability focused on the integration and adoption of advanced sensor architectures across Defence networks. You will provide technical leadership, systems engineering expertise, and assurance activities to support complex integration initiatives, prototyping activities, and future capability development.

• Develop and maintain systems engineering and test and evaluation plans
• Support requirements development, design reviews, verification and validation activities
• Provide technical advice relating to systems integration, architecture, governance, and compliance
• Engage with Defence, industry, and technical stakeholders to assess emerging technology solutions
• Identify, manage, and escalate technical risks impacting project outcomes
• Contribute to engineering governance frameworks and process improvement activities
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project status documentation for senior stakeholders
• Support the delivery of test, evaluation, prototyping, and capability assurance activities across complex C4 environments

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background working across complex ICT, communications, software, or Defence capability programs.You will bring:

• Degree qualifications in Systems, Software, Computer, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, preferably within Defence or military C4 environments
• Experience supporting systems integration, verification, validation, test and evaluation activities
• Ability to develop engineering artefacts, requirements documentation, and technical assurance outputs
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and technical advisory skills
• NV1 Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain one (mandatory)
• Chartered Engineer status (highly desirable)
• Experience with Defence engineering frameworks, governance processes, and capability acquisition environments (desirable)
