At Colac Otway Shire Council, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Talent and Engagement Business Partner to join our People and Culture team and play a key role in attracting, developing, engaging and retaining a high-performing workforce. 

This is an exciting opportunity to partner with leaders across the organisation, influence workforce planning and talent initiatives, and contribute to an outstanding employee experience from recruitment through to career development and retention.

What you'll be doing

As our Talent and Engagement Business Partner, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment and selection processes across Council. 
  • Partner with leaders to identify current and future workforce needs and support workforce planning activities.
  • Develop talent attraction, sourcing and employee value proposition initiatives that strengthen Council's employer brand. 
  • Facilitate succession planning and talent management programs to build organisational capability.
  • Support onboarding, induction, probation, employment lifecycle and offboarding processes. 
  • Provide contemporary people advice, coaching and support to leaders across the organisation.
  • Contribute to organisational design, workforce effectiveness and business improvement initiatives. 
  • Analyse workforce data, recruitment trends and people metrics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. 
  • Support learning and development programs, leadership capability initiatives and employee engagement activities.

What we're looking for

We're seeking a proactive and collaborative HR professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing outcomes and delivering innovative people solutions.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in Human Resources, Recruitment, Talent Acquisition or People and Culture roles.
  • Experience coordinating end-to-end recruitment and selection activities.
  • Sound knowledge of Human Resources principles, practices and employment legislation, including Enterprise Agreements, Awards, National Employment Standards and the Fair Work framework. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 
  • The ability to build trusted relationships and provide practical advice to leaders and employees. 
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. 
  • Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving capabilities. 
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, organisational development and delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Competitive salary of $77,392.64 to $88,025.60 per annum plus superannuation.
