About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Web Developer to join an agile capability delivery team responsible for building and enhancing modern web applications and APIs.
Working on a significant public-facing platform, you will be involved in the design, development, integration and ongoing enhancement of web-based solutions that deliver critical services to the Australian community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing and maintaining modern web applications and software components.
- Building and integrating APIs to support business functionality and secure data access.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders and product owners to refine requirements and deliver user-focused solutions.
- Implementing automated testing and supporting continuous integration practices.
- Monitoring, troubleshooting and supporting existing applications and infrastructure.
- Producing technical documentation and contributing to knowledge sharing across the team.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to enhance delivery practices and system capability.
- Working within Agile, Scrum and Kanban delivery frameworks to deliver high-quality outcomes.
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:
- Strong commercial experience developing modern web applications using React, TypeScript and JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience working with modern frontend tooling, build pipelines and testing frameworks such as Webpack and Jest.
- Strong understanding of Single Page Application (SPA) architecture, including routing, state management and responsive design principles.
- Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.
- Knowledge of secure authentication practices and secure data handling techniques.
- Experience working within Agile software delivery environments, including Scrum and Kanban.
- The ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A commitment to producing quality documentation and maintaining engineering best practices.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT, but can be performed in a Hybrid capacity.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: APS6 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Candidates must hold a minimum NV1 (Negative Vetting 1) on submission. Our client is not looking to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. An OSA (Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
