We're looking for a motivated and ambitious Business Development Associate to join our NSW/ACT Medical Indemnity Growth Team, based in Sydney CBD. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous phone-based sales, lead generation or appointment setting experience who is looking to build a successful career in business development. As a key member of the Growth Team, you'll be responsible for identifying and engaging prospective members, generating new business opportunities and building relationships across the healthcare sector. You'll work closely with experienced business development professionals, gaining exposure to relationship management, field sales, networking events and commercial sales strategies.

Key Accountabilities

Generate New Business Opportunities

  • Connect with prospective members and practice policy holders through outbound calling, email campaigns and other prospecting activities.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities, building a strong pipeline of future members.
  • Learn the healthcare landscape and identify opportunities to engage with doctors, specialists and practice owners.
  • Understand prospect needs and support them through the early stages of their decision-making journey.
  • Schedule qualified meetings and assist with progressing opportunities through the sales pipeline.

Build Relationships & Grow Market Presence

  • Develop strong relationships with medical practitioners, practice managers and practice owners.
  • Support business development activities through hospital visits, practice visits and industry engagement.
  • Attend conferences, networking events and education sessions to build relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Represent Avant professionally and help strengthen our presence within the healthcare community.
  • Work alongside experienced Business Development Managers, learning relationship-building and field sales techniques.

Drive Sales Success

  • Achieve activity targets across prospecting, meetings, lead generation and business development initiatives.
  • Manage opportunities and record activity through Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Collaborate with the broader Growth Team to deliver outstanding experiences for prospective members.
  • Continuously develop your sales capability through coaching, mentoring and ongoing learning opportunities.

Key Capabilities

  • Experience in phone-based sales, lead generation, appointment setting, customer acquisition or a similar customer-facing environment.
  • Confidence engaging with people and building rapport over the phone and in person.
  • A proactive attitude and genuine desire to achieve goals and deliver results.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Curiosity, resilience and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience using CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience is advantageous).
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW and ACT when required.
  • Experience within insurance, healthcare, financial services or another regulated industry.
  • Business, commerce or related tertiary qualifications.
  • FSR Tier 2 accreditation.
