About the business
Our client is a highly recognised Australian consumer business with a significant national footprint and a strong, data-led commercial culture.

As the organisation continues to invest in its customer, digital and analytics capabilities, an opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded finance professional to join a high-performing team and play a key role in shaping commercial decision-making across the business following a recent internal promotion.

About the role
Reporting to the Head of Pricing & Commercial, this is a broad and highly visible Commercial Manager position combining commercial finance, forecasting, pricing, customer analytics and marketing insights.

You will partner closely with marketing, customer and wider commercial teams, using data to understand what is driving sales, customer retention, margin and customer behaviour and translating those insights into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.

The role also has responsibility for one established and competent Commercial Analyst, providing an opportunity to develop and mentor an established team member while remaining highly hands-on with the analysis.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the finance sales forecasting model across a large national network, including annual budgeting and monthly reforecasting.
  • Analyse sales, traffic, margin and channel performance to identify key commercial drivers.
  • Provide commercial analysis around menu/product pricing, product mix and margin performance.
  • Partner with marketing on product launches, campaigns, trials and category reviews, evaluating ROI and commercial performance.
  • Analyse customer behaviour, segmentation, purchasing patterns and digital performance.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting to make complex datasets accessible to senior stakeholders.
  • Support commercial decision-making by modelling the financial and customer implications of new initiatives.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and reporting across the organisation's marketing P&L.
  • Lead and develop one Commercial Analyst.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership, with regular exposure to c-suite level stakeholders, including the CFO and CEO.

About you
We are seeking a commercially minded finance or analytics professional who enjoys getting into the detail of the data but, importantly, can step back and explain what it means for the business.

You will ideally bring:

  • 5+ years' experience across commercial finance, FP&A, commercial analytics, insights or a related discipline.
  • Experience within FMCG, retail, QSR, consumer goods environment essential.
  • Strong commercial understanding across sales, margin, pricing, forecasting and ROI.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
  • Experience with BI/visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • SQL, Python and/or Alteryx experience will be highly regarded.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to present complex analysis to non-technical audiences.
  • Previous people leadership, mentoring or coaching experience is preferred, however applications from individuals who are ready and experienced to take the next step in their career is welcomed.

A CA/CPA qualification is not essential although highly regarded. We're more interested in your commercial thinking, analytical capability and ability to turn data into decisions.
