The kitchen prepares a variety of dishes including curries, tandoori items, breads, and sides, with a focus on consistent flavour, structured preparation, and efficient service delivery in a high-traffic hospitality environment.

About the Role

We are seeking a Chef to support daily kitchen operations. The role involves preparing and cooking menu items, managing a section during service, and maintaining consistency in food quality and presentation. You will work as part of a kitchen team, contributing to smooth service flow and adherence to established kitchen standards.

Location: Surfers Paradise QLD 4217

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation

Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes including curries, tandoori items, and breads
  • Manage a kitchen section and ensure timely service during peak periods
  • Assist with food preparation, marination, and portioning
  • Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes
  • Monitor food quality and adherence to recipes
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
  • Assist with stock rotation, storage, and inventory control
  • Minimise food wastage and support efficient kitchen operations
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to maintain workflow during service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or a related qualification
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant full-time work experience
  • Experience working with Indian cuisine preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good time management and organisational skills
