Zabe Bar and Diner in Tewantin, Queensland is seeking a passionate and experienced Chef

to assist and at times lead our kitchen team. We offer a competitive salary package of

$80,000 + superannuation alongside an exceptional work-life balance in one of Australia's most beautiful regions.

As our Chef, you will have creative control and operational oversight of the kitchen in conjunction with our management. This role offers the perfect blend of professional autonomy and an enviable lifestyle.

Duties and Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

• Execute menu items: Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes consistently under the direction of the Head Chef.

• Manage mise en place: Complete daily prep work including washing, chopping, and measuring ingredients ahead of service.

• Maintain recipe compliance: Follow standard recipes and presentation specifications exactly to ensure consistency.

Kitchen Operations & Station Management

• Run a kitchen station: Take full ownership of a designated station, managing stock rotation and minimizing food waste.

• Perform quality control: Monitor the quality, taste, and temperature of all ingredients and finished dishes.

• Maintain safety and hygiene: Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety protocols and food safety standards.

Support workspace cleanup: Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment throughout and at the end of each shift.

Skills and Experience Required

• Experience: Minimum of one year of relevant experience in a similar role

• Qualifications: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management, or equivalent overseas qualification; alternatively, at least three years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of formal qualifications

• Leadership: Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage a fast-paced kitchen environment calmly and effectively.

• Financial Literacy: Solid understanding of food costing, inventory management, and waste reduction.
