Hays is partnering with a well-established public sector legal service seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support its North West operations. Your new role
Working closely with legal practitioners, you will provide high-level secretarial and administrative support while helping maintain the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing legal files, diaries, correspondence and administrative systems
- Preparing and processing confidential legal documents and correspondence
- Handling incoming telephone calls, mail and enquiries from clients and stakeholders
- Coordinating information between clients, practitioners, courts, registries and other agencies
- Completing electronic applications, claims, invoices and file closures
- Assisting with digital dictation, document production and general practice administration
- Managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, discretion and confidentiality
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Previous legal secretarial or high-level legal administration experience
- Strong document preparation, word processing and digital dictation skills
- Well-developed organisation and time-management capabilities
- Confidence managing sensitive and confidential matters
- Clear, professional communication skills and a client-focused approach
- The ability to work calmly and accurately across competing priorities
- Experience within criminal law or a similar legal practice environment will be highly regarded
What you'll get in return
Youll receive an hourly rate of $43 plus superannuation, an initial 3-month temporary engagement with a strong potential for extension, and the opportunity to work within a respected public sector legal environment. Positions are required in both Burnie and Devonport.
