Bega Valley Shire Council (BVSC) provides valuable opportunities for students who are seeking work placement as part of their vocational or university studies.

Work placement provides individuals with an opportunity to undertake an on-the-job experience which correlates directly to what you will encounter once your education has been completed.

All work placement is administered through a non‐paid arrangement. 

Eligibility

Work placement is available for any enrolled student who needs to complete a required number of placement hours as part of vocational or university studies.

All students who undertake work placement with BVSC are responsible for ensuring they have the relevant licences and uniforms required to undertake their role.

Below are the identified areas BVSC is able to offer work placement for students who are seeking to undertake work placement:

  • Administration
  • Customer Service
  • Children's Services - Daycare and Preschool
  • Communication and Engagement
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology
  • Library Services
  • Town Planning
  • Water and Sewerage Services
  • Work, Health and Safety
  • Works/Civil Construction
  • Workshop and Fabrication

Application Process

 To apply, please complete the below application, ensuring the following information is submitted:

  • Certificate of Currency (Insurance from Educational Institution)
  • Any qualifications / clearances that are relevant to the role:
    • Working with Children Check (Applicable if over 18 years of age and undertaking placement in Children's Services or Library Services) 
    • Police Check (Applicable if over 18 years of age and undertaking placement in Children's Services, Library Services, Revenue or Human Resources)
    • White Card (Applicable if working in Water and Sewerage Services, Work Health and Safety, Works/Civil Construction, Engineering or Workshop and Fabrication)
  • Any paperwork that is required from the Educational Institution (Student Placement Record)
