Are you someone who enjoys working with people, managing accurate transactions, and keeping things running smoothly in a fast-paced environment? This is a great opportunity to join a local government waste facility in a frontline customer service and administration role.
As the first point of contact for customers entering the landfill, you’ll play an important role in delivering excellent service while ensuring all transactions, records, and processes are completed accurately.
About the Role
- 9.5 hours per day (including a 30-minute unpaid break)
- Average of 76 hours per fortnight
- 8 days per fortnight, Monday to Sunday inclusive
- 7-day rotating roster
- Successful candidates may commence on an alternative roster during initial training before transitioning into the full roster
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and process all vehicle entries into the landfill facility
- Accurately assess and classify waste types and complete transactions through the weighbridge system
- Process over-the-counter payments, manage daily reconciliations, and complete banking procedures
- Allocate funds to the correct accounts and maintain accurate financial records
- Manage credit account enquiries and maintain customer account information
- Coordinate contaminated waste bookings and maintain hazardous waste records
- Complete data entry, reporting, and administrative tasks with a high level of accuracy
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate confidently with a diverse range of customers
- Proven experience handling cash, balancing transactions, and completing banking processes
- Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical ability
- Accurate data entry and administration skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Understanding of financial and credit processes
- Completion of Year 12 Maths and English
Desirable Experience
- Previous weighbridge or landfill experience
- Experience using Mandalay software
- Background in waste, transport, administration, or other high-volume transaction environments
