Sunset Pier Pty Ltd operates a popular waterfront café and restaurant in Bellara on beautiful
Bribie Island. Located overlooking the Pumicestone Passage, Sunset Pier provides a relaxed
coastal dining experience and serves a diverse range of breakfast and lunch dishes, artisanal
pastries and beverages. The venue also caters for functions and special events and is committed to providing high
quality food, excellent customer service and a welcoming dining experience for both locals
and visitors. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our professional kitchen
team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
As a Chef, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality meals while supporting the efficient
day-to-day operation of the kitchen. The successful candidate will have strong practical cooking skills, an understanding of
commercial kitchen operations and a commitment to maintaining consistently high standardsof food quality, presentation, hygiene
and safety.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare, cook and present a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch and other menu items consistently and efficiently.
• Assist with planning menus and developing seasonal dishes and specials.
• Monitor the quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Ensure appropriate portion control and consistent presentation of dishes.
• Prepare ingredients and undertake food preparation before and during service.
• Coordinate kitchen activities to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food, ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients and other food products.
• Minimise food wastage and assist with effective food-cost management.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Maintain appropriate food storage, temperature control and stock rotation procedures.
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service.
• Assist with catering preparation for functions and special events where required.
• Support and guide junior kitchen staff where necessary.
• Maintain high standards during busy service periods, including weekends and public holidays.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent relevant culinary qualification; or
• An equivalent recognised qualification in cookery, culinary arts or a closely related field.
Experience
• Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience working as a Chef or in a closely related commercial cookery position.
• Demonstrated experience working in a busy café, restaurant or similar commercial kitchen environment.
• Experience preparing and cooking a broad range of menu items.
• Experience maintaining food safety, hygiene and quality standards in a commercial kitchen.
Skills
