The role

Build your career in business administration while gaining hands-on experience in fleet operations!

As a Trainee Business Administration – Fleet, you’ll combine structured learning and development with practical, on-the-job experience supporting the day-to-day operations of Council’s vehicle and plant fleet. You’ll gain exposure to fleet data management, reporting, compliance, customer service and a range of administrative activities.

This is a two-year Temporary Full-Time traineeship commencing in February 2027, where you will develop practical workplace skills and build a strong foundation for your career in customer service, while completing a TAFE course alongside your work with Council.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Maintain accurate fleet records and data across Council systems.
  • Assist with fleet correspondence, documentation and general administration.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions, purchase orders and service requests.
  • Support the coordination of vehicle allocations and bookings.
  • Maintain organised electronic and hard-copy records.
  • Participate in structured training and development as part of your traineeship.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Fleet team and assist with a variety of operational activities.

You will have

  • Be a current Year 12 student, recent school leaver, or early career professional.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop administrative skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to customer service.

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $38,272 (T3 at 17 years of age) or $44,746 (T4 at 18+ years or completed HSC) + 12% super.
